The UCAS Personal Statement has been REFORMED for 2026 entry, structured into 3 sections with specific questions (Why this course, How preparation, Why ready). Total ~4,000 characters. STRICTLY ACADEMIC for the UK (NOT personal stories like the US). For Sheffield Engineering: technical projects, physics/maths olympiads, design challenges. For Medicine: clinical work experience, NHS-like volunteering, ethical reflection. For Architecture: creative portfolio (separate from UCAS), spatial interest. For Law: critical reasoning, legal reading, UK common law.
IELTS / TOEFL (by December)
Minimum IELTS Academic for Sheffield: 6.5 overall, no less than 6.0 per component for most courses. Higher 7.0+ for Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Education, English Literature.
